If I want to know who you are

allow me to ask you 

not what you do for a living

but what you are learning about life

​

so that even when I know you

and we might have met

a great many times before 

yes, 

we might have spent

hours, days or years together

I still would like to know

and I will ask you

again and again and again: 

what are you learning about life?
